We Connect to Others Through Missions
First Baptist, Cuero values being missionaries as well as supporting mission causes. We have come to believe that everyone is called to be a minister, and everyone is given the task of being a missionary. Ministers are those who share God's love with people who have needs. That is a task every believer is empowered to do through God's Spirit. Missionaries are those who cross to another culture to share the gospel of grace.
Jesus has given us our task:
"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:18-20 NIV)
First Baptist Church supports the mission work of the Baptist General Convention of Texas. We also support the South Texas Children's Home, in Mineral, Texas, a missionary who serves in Japan, and the Mexican Indian Training Center, in Cordoba, Mexico. We annually take a mission trip to Cordoba to put feet to our mission commitment.
In addition to these mission causes, we believe the church should be sharing the gospel through local care ministries. Our Missions Development Committee seeks out local mission projects to help us connect people to tangible expressions of the love of God.
Baptist Men help us make connections with these mission causes by cooking meals. Our men annually provide a hamburger cookout at the South Texas Children's Home, as well as providing meals for youth lock-ins and other events at the church.
